Proposed 2026–2027 School Calendar
Open for Parent Feedback

The proposed 2026–2027 school calendar is being shared for a 30-day parent feedback period, as required by policy. We encourage families to review the calendar and share thoughts or questions.
We want to acknowledge that this calendar looks different from previous years. These changes were made intentionally to support student learning, meet Ohio requirements, and provide greater consistency for families.
Meeting Ohio Requirements
Ohio schools are required to meet instructional hour requirements, not a set number of school days.
- Elementary students: 901 hours required
- Secondary students: 1,001 hours required
This proposed calendar meets and exceeds those requirements and includes flexibility for calamity days.
School Day Update (School-Age Students)
Beginning in 2026–2027, the school-age day will be slightly longer:
- New school day: 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM
- Current school day: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
This added instructional time helps meet state requirements without adding extra school days.
School-age students may be dropped off starting at 8:15 AM.
Transportation
Transportation has been carefully planned to support this change.
Families can expect bus pick-up and drop-off times to adjust slightly, generally within about 10 minutes of current times. Updated transportation details will be shared before the school year begins.
Preschool Schedule
Preschool students will attend Monday–Thursday.
- Fridays: No preschool students
- Staff continue working Fridays for planning, evaluations, and family meetings
This schedule is developmentally appropriate for young learners and supports improved engagement and behavior.
Why This Calendar Works
- Meets Ohio instructional requirements
- Supports consistent routines for students
- Reduces the need for waiver days
- Maintains familiar holidays and breaks
- Uses staff time thoughtfully and responsibly
We Want Your Feedback
This calendar is posted for 30 days of parent feedback. We appreciate your partnership and welcome your input as we plan for the 2026–2027 school year!
